Antarctic Treaty Summit. November 30 - December 03, 2009. Smithsonian Institution .
The 50th anniversary of the signing of the Antarctic Treaty in Washington, D.C. will be on 1 December 2009. To celebrate this international landmark and the global vision of the twelve original signatories, the Antarctic Treaty Summit: Science-Policy Interactions in International Governance will be convened from 30 November through 3 December 2009 at the Smithsonian Institution to highlight lessons learned about international governance "with the interests of science and the progress of all mankind." read more
IPY International Early Career Researcher Symposium, 04.12.2009 - 08.12.2009
To bring early career Arctic and Antarctic researchers together for a series of career development training sessions to develop professional skill, work with senior mentors, and develop international and interdisciplinary collaborations. The CBR panel discussion will address the importance and practice of CBR and a round table break out session will discuss how to meet CBR training needs. We will discuss how to develop a training process and curriculum with the leadership of international indigenous community leaders, elders, scientists, and early career scientists. We will also address the idea of a pilot CBR field school in association with the 2010 Northern Research Forum Open Assembly and an associated implementation plan. read more

The COP15 conference is the fifteenth Conference of the Parties under the United Nations’ Climate Change Convention. The conference will take place from 7 december to 18 December 2009.
